Brigadeirão (Brazilian Chocolate Flan)

Brigadeirão is another Brazilian chocolate awesomeness dessert.    It uses pretty much the same ingredients of the Brigadeiro (Brazilian chocolate truffle) but made as a delicious flan that melts in your mouth.

Today I am sharing my mother’s recipe with you.   She used to make it for us when we were kids and serve it covered with chocolate sprinkles as a Sunday dessert.

It is better to be eaten cold, if you can resist… Today I couldn’t and had a big slice still warm.

Enjoy it

Brigadeirão (Brazilian Chocolate Flan)

2 cans sweetened condensed milk
1 can (use the empty condensed milk can as measure)  of milk
8 tablespoons cocoa powder
6 egg yolks
2 tablespoons butter plus some to grease the tin

Pre-heat the oven to 180C.

Mix all ingredients in the blender at high speed until smooth.

Grease a cake tin with hole in the centre and pour the mixture inside the tin.

Cover the Tin with foil and place it in a large baking tray.  Pour boiling water into the baking tray until half way of the volume of the Mixture inside the tin.

Bake for one hour and a half,  remove the foil and bake for more 10 min.

Remove it from the oven, set aside to cool down.   While it is still a bit warm run a knife around the edge of the Tin and turn onto a plate.

Decorate with chocolate sauce or chocolate sprinkles.
